A ThinPrep Pap test is a modified Pap test method created to lessen some of the technical issues present in the standard Pap smear.

What is the difference between Pap smear and ThinPrep?

The difference between Pap smear and ThinPrep is the way cells are prepared for evaluation. ThinPrep is more sensitive than the conventional Papanicolaou (Pap) smear at detecting cervical cancer (strength of recommendation).

Is ThinPrep better than Pap smear?

Clinical trials found that the ThinPrep Pap Test is 65% more effective than the Pap smear in detecting cervical cancer and precancerous lesions.
