Who is required to get a TLC medical?
The drivers of yellow or medallion taxi cabs, green or boro taxis, uber drivers, Lyft drivers, luxury limousines, and black car limos are required to pass a TLC Exam in New York City.
What is included in a TLC medical exam?
A TLC medical exam includes a review of your and your family’s medical history, an assessment of your blood pressure, heart rate, hearing and vision, and an overall physical.
What do I need to bring to the appointment?
Print out the NYC TLC medical certification form and bring it to your appointment. If you don’t have one, the urgent care clinic can provide you with one. Bring your NY state driver’s license, a list of medications you take, medical history, and recent medical records.
What happens after the TLC exam?
After the TLC exam, the licensed medical provider will certify that you have completed the physical exam and will determine if you are medically cleared to operate a TLC vehicle.
When should I get a TLC medical exam?
You should get a TLC medical exam as soon as possible since you only have 60 days from the date you submitted a TLC application to get the physical exam.
Does my insurance cover this service?
No, a TLC medical exam is not covered by insurance and can only be paid for out of pocket.
