Hepatitis B vaccine in NYC and Long Island

CDC recommends hepatitis B vaccination for all adults ages 19 through 59, adults 60 and older with risk factors, and adults 60 and older who want protection. Product schedules differ: some adults can complete a two-dose series in one month, while other products use three doses. Screening is important, but it should not become an unnecessary barrier to vaccination.

Hepatitis B vaccination Booking begins with vaccine review. Product inventory, age and indication eligibility, certification, and site capability must be confirmed.

The short answer

Current guidance checked August 1, 2026

CDC recommends hepatitis B vaccination for all adults ages 19 through 59, adults 60 and older with risk factors, and adults 60 and older who want protection. Product schedules differ: some adults can complete a two-dose series in one month, while other products use three doses. Screening is important, but it should not become an unnecessary barrier to vaccination.

Eligibility and timing

The clinician applies current guidance to the person, prior doses, and purpose of vaccination.

Who may qualify

  • Adults ages 19 through 59 should receive a hepatitis B vaccine series if they are not already protected.
  • Adults 60 and older should be vaccinated when risk factors are present and may be vaccinated when they want protection.
  • Pregnant patients who are not vaccinated may receive an appropriate hepatitis B vaccine after the pregnancy screening blood draw.
  • People with diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, HIV, sexual or household exposure risk, injection-drug use, or occupational exposure need focused review.

Schedule and timing

  • Heplisav-B is a two-dose adult series given at least four weeks apart.
  • Engerix-B and Recombivax HB commonly use three-dose adult schedules, with special dosing for dialysis.
  • Twinrix combines hepatitis A and B for adults and can use a standard three-dose or accelerated four-dose schedule.
  • If earlier doses used a different or unavailable product, valid doses often still count; bring the exact dates and brands.

What happens at the visit

Book a vaccine review

Choose the general vaccine appointment. Booking starts a clinical review and does not reserve a product.

Bring records and details

Bring dose dates, product names, allergies, medicines, prior reactions, and an itinerary when travel is relevant.

Confirm eligibility and access

The clinician confirms the current indication, timing, product, inventory, certification, and site capability.

Plan the next dose

If vaccination is appropriate and available, the care team documents the dose and explains follow-up or series timing.

Screening, pregnancy, and vaccine precautions

Tell the clinician about a severe reaction to a prior hepatitis B vaccine, yeast or other components, pregnancy, dialysis, immune suppression, and moderate or severe illness. A CDC triple-panel blood test may be recommended if it has never been done, but testing should not delay vaccination when follow-through is uncertain. Call 911 for signs of anaphylaxis.

Cost, records, and access

Insurance and cost

Coverage depends on age, risk, product, plan rules, and the visit setting. Ask about vaccine and laboratory benefits separately. Nao Medical must confirm the product, schedule, inventory, expected patient cost, and any specialty dosing need before administration.

Verified access

The clinic cards represent review access, not product stock. The care team confirms prior doses, screening needs, age and risk eligibility, pregnancy considerations, the correct product, site capability, and series follow-up.
