Uzedy is an extended-release risperidone injection approved for adults with schizophrenia and for maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder. Nao Medical can evaluate an appropriate patient or coordinate an accepted outside order, patient-specific delivery, administration, visit monitoring, and ongoing psychiatry. The indication-specific schedule, order, records, coverage, medication arrival, and eligible clinic must be confirmed first.

What to know about Uzedy

A clear clinical and operational handoff
When clinically appropriate, Nao Medical can evaluate the request and coordinate ongoing psychiatry. If an outside psychiatric clinician sends a valid order and adequate records, Nao reviews whether the order can be accepted, coordinates patient-specific medication delivery, confirms an eligible administration clinic, administers the injection, and monitors the visit. Acceptance is not automatic, and Nao does not change the medication or dose without a valid prescriber-led plan.
The medicine is coordinated for the individual patient. An evaluation does not guarantee eligibility, order acceptance, medication access, or administration at the clinic where the evaluation occurs.
Initiation, schedule, and late-dose planning
Before the first dose
Oral risperidone tolerability must be established first when it is not already known. For schizophrenia, the label permits a direct switch from daily oral risperidone to a monthly or two-month injection on the day after the last oral dose. For bipolar I maintenance, the label uses monthly dosing. Neither a loading dose nor supplemental oral risperidone is recommended for the labeled switches.

Uzedy is given monthly or every two months for schizophrenia; monthly only for maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder by subcutaneous injection in the abdomen or upper arm.
If a dose is late
The current label says to administer a missed dose as soon as possible without giving it more frequently than recommended. The responsible prescriber still reviews the last dose, indication, symptoms, and any intervening treatment before administration.
No automatic medication change
A long-acting injection cannot simply be removed. Any change requires a prescriber-led plan that accounts for the prior dose and the next product's initiation rules.

All eight labels carry a boxed warning about increased mortality in older adults with dementia-related psychosis and state that the product is not approved for that use. Other important risks can include neuroleptic malignant syndrome, tardive dyskinesia, metabolic changes, low blood pressure or falls, low white blood cell counts, seizures, swallowing problems, impaired temperature regulation, and cognitive or motor impairment. When to get urgent help
Get emergency help for trouble breathing or facial swelling, fainting, very high fever with severe muscle stiffness or confusion, a seizure, or a sudden major change in consciousness. Contact the psychiatric prescriber promptly for new uncontrolled movements, severe restlessness, marked sedation, rapidly worsening symptoms, or thoughts of self-harm. Call 911 or 988 when immediate safety is at risk.
Coverage and medication access
The office visit, the medication, and administration may process through different parts of an insurance plan. Prior authorization, specialty-pharmacy requirements, patient-specific shipment, and manufacturer-program eligibility vary.
