Perseris was a monthly risperidone injection approved for adults with schizophrenia. Indivior discontinued U.S. availability effective May 31, 2026, so Nao Medical does not present Perseris as a currently bookable injection. A psychiatry visit can review records, discuss continuity, and coordinate with the responsible prescriber on currently available options. Do not delay a scheduled dose without contacting the prescriber.

The last current label required established oral risperidone tolerability and did not recommend a loading dose or supplemental oral risperidone for the labeled switch. Perseris is given once monthly under its FDA-approved labeling by subcutaneous injection in the abdomen or back of the upper arm.
If a dose is late
Contact the responsible prescriber promptly if a planned Perseris dose cannot be obtained. Do not substitute, restart, or change to another long-acting injection without a new clinical plan.

All eight labels carry a boxed warning about increased mortality in older adults with dementia-related psychosis and state that the product is not approved for that use. Other important risks can include neuroleptic malignant syndrome, tardive dyskinesia, metabolic changes, low blood pressure or falls, low white blood cell counts, seizures, swallowing problems, impaired temperature regulation, and cognitive or motor impairment. When to get urgent help
Get emergency help for trouble breathing or facial swelling, fainting, very high fever with severe muscle stiffness or confusion, a seizure, or a sudden major change in consciousness. Contact the psychiatric prescriber promptly for new uncontrolled movements, severe restlessness, marked sedation, rapidly worsening symptoms, or thoughts of self-harm. Call 911 or 988 when immediate safety is at risk.
