Acute pain begins with a recent injury, illness or procedure and needs assessment of its cause. A visit considers both relief and whether the problem requires imaging, emergency care or coordination with a surgical team.
Choose and confirm a location
Use the selected clinic’s confirmed address and contact details. Before travel, name the specific service and ask about age eligibility, visit type and any required test or procedure. The general clinic hours do not establish every service’s schedule. Bring relevant records and confirm the result or follow-up route. Discuss the cause, severity and duration of pain and any recent surgery. The clinician considers non-drug measures and suitable medicines, including whether a new option fits your circumstances. Children, pregnancy, liver disease and interacting medicines require particular review. A request for JOURNAVX does not establish eligibility.
Acute pain care
Acute pain begins with a recent injury, illness or procedure and needs assessment of its cause. A visit considers both relief and whether the problem requires imaging, emergency care or coordination with a surgical team. The appropriate medicine depends on the diagnosis, other conditions and medicines you already take.
How acute pain care works
JOURNAVX (suzetrigine) is an oral, non-opioid sodium-channel blocker approved for moderate to severe acute pain in adults. It targets NaV1.8 in pain-sensing nerves. It differs from an opioid, an NSAID and acetaminophen. Its acute-pain indication does not establish treatment for chronic neuropathy or ongoing chronic pain.
Eligibility: Acute pain care
Discuss the cause, severity and duration of pain and any recent surgery. The clinician considers non-drug measures and suitable medicines, including whether a new option fits your circumstances. Children, pregnancy, liver disease and interacting medicines require particular review. A request for JOURNAVX does not establish eligibility.
What to expect: Acute pain care
The clinician examines the painful area as appropriate and looks for a cause needing urgent treatment. Agree on realistic goals such as safer movement, sleep and recovery. If a medicine is prescribed, review how to use it, how long it is intended for and when to reassess. Postoperative treatment should be coordinated with the surgical team.
Preparing for your appointment
Bring discharge instructions, injury details and a complete medication list, including supplements. Tell the clinician what pain medicines you have tried and any allergy, sedation or stomach or kidney problem. Do not combine products without checking ingredients or change an existing opioid plan on your own.
Risks and when to seek help
Chest pain, sudden severe headache, severe abdominal pain, major trauma, new weakness or a cold or numb limb needs urgent or emergency assessment. JOURNAVX has important CYP3A interactions; strong CYP3A inhibitors are contraindicated and grapefruit should be avoided. Its use beyond 14 days for acute pain has not been studied.
Follow-up and treatment review
Return if pain worsens, new symptoms appear or recovery is not progressing within the agreed interval. Continuing pain should trigger reassessment of the cause rather than automatic renewal. Ask who manages the plan after a procedure and whether physical therapy or specialist care is appropriate.
Appointments, costs and coverage
Confirm that the clinic evaluates the particular pain problem and whether a prescription can be considered. Medicine price, pharmacy stock and authorization are separate from the visit fee.
