Identify the pathway you need
If you are overseas and seeking U.S. residency or fellowship training, begin with the requirements of the training program and Intealth’s sponsorship process. The J-1 physician category is tied to an approved educational activity. Finding an ordinary outpatient job does not establish eligibility for clinical training sponsorship.
If you are already completing U.S. training in J-1 status, your next question may be whether an employment-based waiver route fits your situation. That is a separate review involving the proposed employer and the relevant agencies.
How clinical training sponsorship works
Intealth’s requirements include an eligible training position and an individual application review. The physician’s documentation and Statement of Need must meet its current instructions. Read the official checklist for your training type instead of reusing a generic exchange-visitor guide.
Licensure, certification, program acceptance and immigration status are related but distinct. An employer cannot replace a licensing board’s decision or the training sponsor’s review. Keep a dated checklist and identify which organization owns each step.
Stay within the authorized training
J-1 sponsorship authorizes the specified program activity. Additional paid work outside the approved parameters is not something a recruitment page can authorize. Ask the training program and sponsor about any proposed change in duties or location.
When considering your future career, separate exploratory interviews from permission to begin work. A Nao Medical application can start a conversation about a later role; it does not change your present status or authorize clinical employment.
Preparing for the transition after residency
Record your expected training completion date, specialty, examination and license status, and any immigration deadlines that counsel has identified. Begin employer discussions with this timeline in hand.
Compare the clinical assignment and support at each organization. Look for clear responsibilities, a suitable patient population and realistic credentialing lead time. If a waiver is needed, the employment and immigration plans should be reviewed together.
Where Nao Medical fits
Nao Medical is an outpatient employer to consider for your post-training career. Explore physician roles in primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics and psychiatry through the relevant guides and current vacancies.
Our graduate PA/NP program is a separate training initiative for those professions. It is not a physician residency, an Intealth J-1 program or a substitute for medical licensure. For physician sponsorship questions, recruiting can discuss role fit and the review needed for a specific opportunity.
Common questions
Can an overseas physician obtain a J-1 simply by finding a clinic job?
Clinical J-1 physician sponsorship concerns eligible training and an individual sponsor review. An ordinary clinic job is not the same pathway.
Is a J-1 waiver the same as a new J-1 visa?
No. A waiver concerns the home-country physical presence requirement. Later employment status and authorization require their own review.
Can I apply to Nao Medical while in residency?
You can explore future opportunities and explain your expected completion date. Any offer, sponsorship support and start date depend on the role, qualifications and lawful work authorization.
