Patient appointments
For adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis, TREMFYA offers intravenous or subcutaneous induction followed by subcutaneous maintenance. The decision belongs within a gastroenterology plan that follows bleeding, bowel symptoms, inflammation and safety.
An appointment does not confirm access to a particular medicine, procedure or specialist. Ask the team about the care and coverage you need.

Bring the latest colonoscopy and biopsy report, stool and blood-test results if available, previous treatment responses, current steroid use and recent hospital visits. The extent and activity of inflammation, other health conditions and past treatment influence the choice.
Treatment aims to reduce inflammation and bring on and maintain remission. It is not simply a medicine for any diarrhea or abdominal pain. New or worsening symptoms can also reflect infection or another complication and may need assessment before changing treatment.
The adult UC induction choices are 200 mg intravenously over at least one hour at weeks 0, 4 and 8, or 400 mg under the skin at weeks 0, 4 and 8. Each subcutaneous induction dose consists of two consecutive 200 mg injections.
Maintenance is either 100 mg subcutaneously at week 16 and every eight weeks afterward, or 200 mg at week 12 and every four weeks afterward. The clinician selects the lowest effective recommended maintenance dose. Ask for a written calendar so the transition is clear.
Keep a record of bowel frequency, bleeding, urgency, nighttime symptoms, pain and steroid use. The clinician may combine that record with stool markers, blood tests and endoscopic assessment. Feeling better is valuable, but it does not replace the agreed evaluation of inflammation.
Before TREMFYA, evaluate for TB and obtain liver enzymes and bilirubin. For UC, the label directs liver monitoring for at least 16 weeks and periodically afterward. Review infection history, live-vaccine plans, liver disease and pregnancy or breastfeeding before starting.
Heavy or increasing bleeding, severe abdominal pain, fever with worsening illness, dizziness or fainting, persistent vomiting or dehydration needs prompt assessment. Severe ulcerative colitis may need hospital care. Do not wait for a new biologic to take effect if you are becoming acutely unwell.
Arrange prescription supply, benefit checks and the actual administration location before treatment. A general Nao appointment can support an initial discussion or coordination; it does not confirm a gastroenterologist, medicine stock or infusion availability at the chosen clinic.
Yes, the current US label includes adults with moderately to severely active UC. It does not cover every bowel symptom or establish a pediatric UC regimen. The treating clinician should confirm the diagnosis, disease activity, previous treatments and safety requirements.
The label includes a subcutaneous induction option as well as IV induction. The subcutaneous induction dose is 400 mg as two consecutive 200 mg injections at weeks 0, 4 and 8. The later maintenance schedule is different and must be prescribed separately.
There is no guaranteed individual deadline. UC trials use scheduled assessments of clinical remission and other outcomes. Ask the gastroenterology team when symptoms and inflammation will be reviewed, what improvement is expected and what should trigger earlier contact. Do not tolerate severe or worsening symptoms just to reach a trial milestone.
Not necessarily. Benefit category, pharmacy, product and authorization period can differ. Ask the insurer and prescribing team to verify the exact induction and maintenance prescriptions, including your out-of-pocket costs and any administration charges.
ICOTYDE’s current US approval is for qualifying plaque psoriasis, not ulcerative colitis. Sharing an IL-23-related mechanism does not make the medicines interchangeable. Discuss oral UC treatment alternatives with the gastroenterologist rather than substituting a psoriasis prescription.
