Arranging your appointment

Call before traveling and name the exact service and location. Confirm the appointment, provider, records, tests, and medicine arrangements. A general walk-in visit does not guarantee a prescription, administration, specialist treatment, or a dietitian appointment that day.

Weekly insulin care

Once-weekly basal insulin is an option for selected adults with type 2 diabetes. Awiqli and Onswik are different products with different concentrations and transition schedules. A supervised switch is essential.

How weekly insulin care works

Basal insulin provides background insulin action. Once-weekly products remain active for a long time, so dosing errors and low glucose can have prolonged effects. They do not automatically replace mealtime insulin.

Eligibility: Weekly insulin care

The current US labels are for adult type 2 diabetes. Onswik is not recommended for type 1 diabetes because of severe low-glucose risk. Weekly treatment requires reliable monitoring and an ability to follow a product-specific weekly schedule.

What to expect: Weekly insulin care

Review current basal and mealtime insulin, glucose patterns, kidney function, and low-glucose history. Confirm access before changing treatment. The prescriber sets the initial and later doses, timing, and monitoring plan. Teach the exact pen and a written weekly record. Never calculate a conversion by multiplying the daily dose by seven yourself.

Preparing for your appointment

Bring insulin labels and devices, the exact daily regimen, meter or CGM report, kidney tests, and a record of lows. Describe work shifts, illness, or missed doses.

Risks and when to seek help

Do not use a concentrated pen as though it were another insulin. Never withdraw insulin from the pen into a syringe. Severe low glucose, accidental extra doses, or acute illness needs urgent advice. Keep existing insulin while awaiting a supervised switch.

Follow-up and treatment review

Monitor more closely during a transition or dose change. Report lows promptly and keep a clear dose record. If the day or dose is uncertain, contact the clinician before another injection. A weekly schedule does not eliminate regular diabetes review.

Appointments, costs and coverage

Confirm the exact service, clinician, formulation, appointment, and refill route before booking. The evaluation, tests, medicine, administration, and follow-up may have separate costs and benefits. Ask for current estimates and required records. An FDA-approved drug or a clinic address does not establish pharmacy stock, onsite treatment, coverage, or a prescription. If access changes, contact the treating team before interrupting treatment.

Questions about your care

Where is Nao Medical Crown Heights?

Confirm the current address, hours, and appointment arrangements with Nao Medical before traveling. Mention the specific location and once-weekly basal insulin is an option for selected adults with type 2 diabetes. Ask whether records, tests, prescription review, training, or administration must be arranged ahead of time.

Can I walk in for once-weekly insulin care for type 2 diabetes?

Call before traveling to confirm the exact service and appointment. An evaluation may require records, tests, or a later treatment decision. A general walk-in appointment does not guarantee medication, an injection, or specialist care that day. Bring insulin labels and devices, the exact daily regimen, meter or CGM report, kidney tests, and a record of lows. Describe work shifts, illness, or missed doses.

Can I bring records from another clinician?

Bring insulin labels and devices, the exact daily regimen, meter or CGM report, kidney tests, and a record of lows. Describe work shifts, illness, or missed doses.

Are Awiqli and Onswik approved for type 1 diabetes in the U.S.?

The current US Awiqli and Onswik indications are for adults with type 2 diabetes. Onswik is specifically not recommended for type 1 diabetes because of increased severe hypoglycemia risk. Do not replace a type 1 regimen with weekly insulin without specialist care.

Does weekly insulin replace my mealtime insulin?

No. Weekly insulin is basal or background treatment. Some people still need mealtime insulin or other diabetes medicines. The clinician reviews the whole regimen and glucose pattern before changing any part.

Can I convert my daily dose by multiplying it by seven?

No. Initial switch doses, later weekly doses, timing, and monitoring differ by product and prior regimen. Multiplying the daily dose by seven yourself can cause dangerous low or high glucose. The prescriber must write the exact transition plan.

Do I need to visit the clinic for every weekly injection?

A weekly basal insulin may be self-injected after appropriate training when the prescription and care arrangement allow it. Confirm who teaches the exact pen and reviews glucose. Weekly dosing does not mean that no follow-up is needed.
