Occupational-health programs for employers
Connect New York City employees with authorized examinations, testing and appropriate clinical follow-up. Agree on clinic access, forms, payment and reporting so the program fits the employer’s actual needs.
Prepare the requested service
Provide job duties, the authorized service list, employee groups, locations, deadline and payment contact. For covered employers, conditional-offer examinations and post-employment medical questions must follow the ADA’s applicable limits.
Results and follow-up
Agree on the specific services, qualified professionals, costs, result review and reports. A general occupational-health program does not by itself satisfy every DOT, OSHA, workers’ compensation or agency requirement.
Arrange the employer program
Confirm the service list, employee eligibility, locations, dates, employer authorization, payment arrangements and reporting contacts with the employer-service team. Give employees the correct appointment instructions and a route for questions or missed appointments. Confirm any proposed workplace event or outside collection site before arranging attendance.
Employee privacy and reporting
Employers should receive only the information needed for the authorized work request. Agree on completion reports, restrictions or other necessary documentation and who may see them. Covered employers must keep medical information confidential and separate from ordinary personnel files. An employee’s personal treatment needs remain a confidential clinical matter.
Questions about employer services
Can employees book their own appointments?
Ask the employer-program coordinator which account or booking route is active, who authorizes visits and how completion is tracked. Agree on employee identifiers, services, deadlines, missed-event routing, billing and the limited information each authorized recipient receives. Employees should get the correct location/modality and document instructions. A patient booking button does not establish an employer portal, funded order or automatic completion feed.
What makes Nao helpful for an HR team?
Before scheduling, confirm the service list, employer payment authorization and reporting contact. Bring the job description and forms. During the visit, discuss the actual duties, prior restrictions, treatment and symptoms with the clinician. Complete the authorized testing. Ask which findings need medical follow-up and which work-status information the employer will receive. Keep a copy of the instructions and the next appointment date if the assessment is incomplete.
Bring photo ID, employer paperwork, a medication list, glasses or hearing aids and the records relevant to the request. Healthcare workers asked for TB screening should bring earlier results, treatment records and symptom information. An IGRA blood test and a TB skin test have different visit schedules. A skin test needs a return reading within 48–72 hours. CDC does not recommend routine annual TB testing after baseline for US healthcare personnel without exposure or ongoing transmission, though local rules and employer requirements may differ.
Nao lists 11 clinics in its local network. Confirm which site can perform the ordered service and whether a dedicated appointment is needed. Some initial record reviews or follow-ups may suit virtual care, while specimen collection, vaccinations and many physical measurements require in-person access. Group programs, employer portals, mobile testing, insurer participation and multi-state coordination need current scope and billing confirmation. Occupational screening does not replace your own primary-care, mental-health or nutrition treatment.
Does a work physical include drug testing?
A work physical does not automatically include an employer drug test. Confirm the written order, specimen/panel, payer and authorized report recipient before booking. A DOT physical's medical urinalysis is different from DOT drug testing. Regulated testing needs its separate authorized collection, laboratory and review pathway. Ask for separate services and fees instead of treating every urine test as the same requirement.
How quickly will we receive results?
Reporting time depends on the requested service, laboratory processing and any medical or MRO review. Ask the employer-service team for the expected interval, how authorized completion reports will be delivered and whom to contact if a report is late. A completed visit or specimen collection does not mean a final verified result is ready.
Will the employer receive my entire medical record?
Employers should receive only the information needed for the authorized work request. Agree on completion reports, restrictions or other necessary documentation and who may see them. Covered employers must keep medical information confidential and separate from ordinary personnel files. An employee’s personal treatment needs remain a confidential clinical matter.
