Provide job duties, the authorized service list, employee groups, locations, deadline and payment contact. For covered employers, conditional-offer examinations and post-employment medical questions must follow the ADA’s applicable limits.
Agree on the specific services, qualified professionals, costs, result review and reports. A general occupational-health program does not by itself satisfy every DOT, OSHA, workers’ compensation or agency requirement.
Confirm the service list, employee eligibility, locations, dates, employer authorization, payment arrangements and reporting contacts with the employer-service team. Give employees the correct appointment instructions and a route for questions or missed appointments. Confirm any proposed workplace event or outside collection site before arranging attendance.
Employers should receive only the information needed for the authorized work request. Agree on completion reports, restrictions or other necessary documentation and who may see them. Covered employers must keep medical information confidential and separate from ordinary personnel files. An employee’s personal treatment needs remain a confidential clinical matter.
A third-party administrator coordinates a testing program’s collections, laboratories, medical review, scheduling and reporting. The employer retains its responsibilities under the applicable rules. City and state agencies can discuss their actual service and procurement requirements with the employer-service team.
A medical review officer is a physician who reviews laboratory drug-test results under the applicable program rules. The MRO role is distinct from specimen collection, a routine clinical visit and the employer’s personnel decision.
Corporate Health focuses on authorized employee examinations, drug and alcohol testing, medical review and work-related care. Corporate wellness generally supports preventive care and personal health goals, such as nutrition or voluntary wellbeing services. Agree on which services the employer program includes and keep clinical treatment information confidential.
The employer-service team can discuss coordination across employee locations. Provide the states, roles and exact services so each proposed site and appointment can be confirmed. A network program does not establish every test, clinician license or regulated service in every state.
Confirm which laboratory will perform your employer's requested tests before arranging collection. Ask the coordinator for the named collection site and laboratory, required panel/specimen, certification appropriate to the request, medical review, report recipient and billing. A general statement that Nao coordinates laboratory work does not establish a contract with a particular laboratory or a DOT-certified pathway.
Attend to injuries and emergency safety first. The employer must determine whether the applicable regulation requires testing and activate its prearranged collection/alcohol workflow promptly. Different agencies use different criteria and timing; a general clinic promise does not establish 24-hour response or compliance. Supervisors need the incident facts, testing authority, contacts, transport plan and escalation route before an event.
Employers can use the employer consultation to agree on services, locations, authorizations, costs and reports. Provide the headcount, requested service and deadline. An employee needing care should book the relevant clinical appointment with employer authorization; urgent care should not wait for a program-planning meeting.
